I have a chance to pick up a miller maxstar 140 locally for a good deal. Comes with everything but the tank which is fine because we have a whole slew at the shop.
I was really looking for a small dc tig for the house, to do manifolds and exhausts and such.. possibly a cage or 2.
Im not worried about welding aluminum at home, we have a bigger tig at the shop.
I believe the one I'm looking at is a lift arc, Im not really used to lift arc, as the Dialarc 250 at the shop has High Frequency starting. LA might involve a slight learning curve.
Any opinions?

If your not looking to weld Aluminum then its a good machine. We had one at an old job of mine and it was great until the HF board gave out. Wasnt a huge deal just had to scratch start everything. If you ever wanted to do AL on the machine just pick up a helium tank.

The maxstar 140 is a DC only machine, no hf. lift start only.
I have the Dialarc 250HF at the shop, which is an ac/dc machine, I just dont have space nor the power supply for it at home. All I need at home is a small DC unit to do manifolds and cages and what not. When I want to do aluminum I'll drive to the shop.
I'm getting it in trade for a 30 gallon air compressor I have, its complete with everythign for tig/stick just no bottle
