Lol, Ive tried all kinds of methods ive seen on here and on the internet and this thing is just not coming apart. I'm about to sawzall the damn thing off. did the simple bfh, big *** pry bar, I even tried the jack the suspension all the way up wedge a socket wrench in and let it back down.

this is thing is being such a bitch. anyone think of something before I cut the **** off?

 

Wedge something in there like you did and then take the bfh to it.

 

im pretty sure every thing ive tried ended with the hammering the **** out of it while different things where wedged in there, its stuck as hell. my buddy brought over a c frame press and we tightened as much and possible and banged the **** out it and it wasnt moving. pretty sure the bolt is a little screwed now too.

seems like cutting it off is the only option now, im sick of screwin with this thing.

 

It took me over an hour per ball joint to get mine. Have you tried heating the lca up?

 

man what pissed me off the most is that the pass side popped right out with the breaker bar, no effort. I was like thank god maybe this wont be a bitch this time.. but no driver side totally hates me..

havent tried that, I heard if you get that boot to hot it can actually blowup for lack of better terms. I gotta double check, but I think i might and messed up the threads on the castle nut bolt so the thing might need to be replaced anyways, might be easiest to saw it off, or go rent the ball joint puller that supposably ruins the boot.

go buy one of these. they are only like 20 bucks.

 

i wouldn't suggest using heat, as the metal could expand and deform the taper fit.
just use the puller in the post above. if it doesn't go with that, keep it on there and jar the joint with the bfh. try hitting in different spots all around the joint. with the pressure of the puller and the jarring of the hammer, it's gonna give

you need to apply apposing pressure while turning it.

 

works 67% of the time, every time

 

this is actually going to apply more force than the other puller, as long as the space between the jaws isn't too wide to fit round the lca

 

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, I ended up beating the **** out of it and then applied heat. used a propane torch and it finally popped out. Drove to the parts store and bought a new one. ****ing Ball Joints!

 

thats exactly what I have in my garage right now, lol. wasnt sure what the f to call it.

we cranked that bitch down till I thought it would break and beat the hell out of it and it wouldnt come loose at all >.< gonna try again in the morning, Im pretty sure I need a new cuz of the bolt, prolly just gonna cut the damn thing off and be done with it

this was coming out to pull the motor at first, then I noticed the boot was pretty mangled and got new ones while they where out to be done with that for awhile.

 

You got off easy, both of mine were totaly stuck. 200k+ on oem ball joints those bitches didnt want to come out. I hit my lower control arms,knuckles everything i could think of.
I ended up pounding the pickle fork in far enough and then jumping on it. It worked after a couple 175lb blows.
If you have already been trying im sure your boots are gone any ways. We tried heat with my brothers and it didnt work, but it worked on my friends car.
The thing about not using heat, i dont by at all. I done it multiple times with no ill effects, you dont have to get the red hot or anything just need to expend a bit.

 

just have a drill ready if you cut the balljoint in half. youll need to CAREFULLY drill out whats left inside the control arm because its still in there.

 

yeah I was imagining that would be a bitch.. im sure it wont just tap out with a punch or anything..

 

actually, if you heated what's left (but not the lca) then let it cool, it would contract slightly and pretty much just fall out

lol rookies on this site make me laugh... honda designed the whole assembly so you could get it apart with a hammer.the little nubs on the sides of the control arm are for beating on it with a hammer. i hve never had a ball joint i couldnt get off with a hammer. i have probably popped over a thousand of them. just make sure you leave the nut on a few threads so you dont hit the treads.... if you can get it from the front turn the knuckle and try i from the back

oh and btw, the nubs are for puller jaws. but you can go ahead and pound the **** out of them so they'll be of no use for the next guy

 

I met one that i cant get off with a hammer.. its sitting in my damn garage... I have beat it from every angle and with all sorts of random **** jammed into it. I couldnt tell you why its stuck until I finally get it off lmao
