Default In a world full of 8 & 9 sec Hondas we have the lowly stock K20A2

Took my EG hatch to the closest 1/8th mile track last night for some seat time. Engine and transmission have about 1500 miles on them now. Recently had a tune up done by Chris Treblic whom is a good guy and easy to talk to. I would suggest him for tuning to anyone that wants there car to run like it is supposed to.

Breakdown of the best pass:

60' = 2.110
330' = 5.761
1/8th = 8.674
mph = 86.559

My last 3 passes I was hitting the rev limiter just before the traps in 3rd gear. All passes were done on 205-50-15" Nitto Neo Gens. Only thing I did was let a little air out and it seemed to help. On a better prepped track I think that I could cut some 2.0 sixty foot times and possibly on a really good track with great conditions maybe even hit a 1.99 60' on real street radials. I may just be dreaming though. The 2.0 60' foot is within reason though.

Details of the chassis:

1992 Civic DX hatch
Full interior
Removed sound deadening
Removed rear bumper support
CF hood
Integra Brake Swap

Details of the engine:

K20A2 (complete stock, with stock intake manifold)
Blox 3" velocity stack with filter
Kiddracing V.2 header
2.5" Kteller mandrel exhaust
Kpro

Details of the tranny:

Quaife LSD
Lightweight flywheel
Exedy Clutch

My goal was to do a 8.5x on these tires. Almost met that my first time out with the car. If I were to guess I would say the car weighs somewhere around 2200lbs or so with me in it. Maybe more, I am not sure. I managed to beat my friends turbo B16 CRX on 205 BFG Drag Radials. He was on 6psi last night and I was with him when he had it tuned on 10psi, which made in the neighborhood of 300whp on 10psi. May I also add, again, that I was hitting the limiter just before the traps in 3rd gear. I believe a taller tire should probably take care of that.

All in all I do not think I did too bad first time out on real street radials. Chris Treblic told me that I had the "stockest" engine that he had ever tuned!!! hahaha....most of the cars have at least an RBC, better exhaust, etc....Just looking through some older posts, I am running times comparable to some with better mods and tires. So I guess I should be happy with it for now.

86mph in the 1/8th should be good for some 12.70's.

I would really like to run some 12's on my Nitto Neo Gens. I would be happy about that.

I think a friend and I are going to have a Nitto Neo Gen shootout!!! He has a K24 swapped EG with ITR 6 speed and all the typical K series bolt-ons. His car is making in the neighborhood of 220-230whp, but he is using the same tires as me and we have comparable 1/8th times.

street tires = waste of time. run it on slicks n you'll never run on street tires again.

slicks = a waste of my time and $$$ right now. Especially, since I can not get to the track that often right now. Just spend $500+ dollars for something that I can not use that often...........not a good idea for me right now.

Yeah, I know dude. I do not own any slicks anymore, sold them a long time ago. I had some Bogarts with 24" slicks years ago and I had a set of 22" slicks that I got rid of about 3 years ago or so. I got into running street tires around 2006-2007. I never ran any of my turbo setups on this car with slicks, always used M&H bias ply DOTs, which I still have, but they are too big. 235-60-15" is too big for the stock K20.

I find it fun to drive to the track and run just like I drove it there. This is not my first rodeo, I know what is capable with slicks. If I had a serious race or some runs set up for some $$$ or something, then slicks may get utilized. Otherwise, I am going to see what I may be able to do with these regular old tires.

Oh by the way, if your car still looks like the car in your avatar then our cars look alot alike. I think I have read through your thread on k20a.org.

I honestly have more fun driving to the track, running low 12's/high 11's with street tires and then driving home...There is no changing slicks and raising the car or any of that bs...just drive there race go home... IMO thats more fun...

Good job man, shes getting it done! Chris knows his ****!

On another note, you wanna sell those 235's??

I will sell them, but my fender cut one of them. I still ran on them after that, but just warning you right of the bat. They have plenty of life left. If you want to work out a deal just hit me up online or through a pm. I have no use for them now. You could probably have some fun with them.

Chris is a good guy and knowledgeable.

I too, like to go the track, looking completely unsuspecting and run a decent number for street tires. Obviously, you can tell from street tire times, what you may run with slicks and what not, that is if you can read a timeslip and have enough experience at the track. It might not be as fast, but it is still fun for some of us.
