88 crx dx mini-me (i think?) help me tell if it is
Help oh wise and knowledgeable Honda guru’s
I have a puzzle for you?
I have an 88 crx dx auto new to me
My assets
1 I was told it has the head of a 91 SI
2 the block reads d15b2
3 the head reads pm3-8
4 The valve cover reads 16 valves.
5 It is dual port injected
It runs, but not well (working on that)
In looking on several forums I am unsure if this is a mini-me, or if the head is the actual head that come on that block????
Here are 2 forum pages I found that are helpful but didn’t answer it for me 100%

My Questions
1 can I tell what I really have?
ie what is the pm3-8 head?
is it from an SI?
It it a vtec head?
2 If it is a mini –me what timing belt is the right one? D1.5, d1.6 or z6, or other????? I have an adjustable cam gear on it, I was told to advance it 4.75 degrees, is that right?
3 if not then what?
Just fet stalk TB and I’m done?
I feel like I have been chasing my tail, all I want is to be able to tune it well enough to drive it every day
Is there anything else I need?
Are there any other resources that would help?
Please can you add some insight for me?
God Bless
Brian

On my d15b2, the casting #on the head is pm3-9. I don't know if that helps u or not, but if u have an si head, the only difference would be the a6 cam/gear, and stiffer valve springs...if u use the b2 timing belt with your adj cam gear, or get a y8 gear, you should be good. The head castings are the same, the best ones from the factory become si's (a6's), the next best become b2's, and the ones after that become b1's...with the a6 cam and b2 block, you'll be 1/2 a tooth off on your cam timing. Oh, and you have no vtec, or mini-me, as a mini-me is a non vtec block, with a vtec head, ie z6 or y8. I know a mpfi swap would do u well, along with a pm6 ecu.
