i have noticed most itr transmissions being sold have j4d stamp without a vin plate which are probably replacement transmissions. i came across an itr transmission with jh4. i had never seen a transmission with jh4 so i decided to google it and some people are saying if it has jh4, it is from a usdm itr but the guy selling the transmission with the jh4 stamp has not vin plate.
any inputs?

LOL no vin tag does not mean it is stolen.

A variety of reasons may have caused this.

Maybe the Vin was removed cause it was stolen
Maybe it cam out of a crashed car and the vin tag was damaged so they removed it.
Maybe it was removed when it was installed in another car, some states/provinces will flag your car for inspection if there is any mismatched vin between motor/chassis etc. Here in Vancouver if any of the vin numbers on the car dont match, you are supposed to get a porvinically issued VIN.
Maybe the tranny case was replaced and Vin tag was not transfered over.
Maybe it's an Rdot transmission
Maybe the car was stolen and recovered with the driveline still in tact, but after the thieves had time to remove the vin tag...

lol.. there is a million possible reasons for that tag to be removed.

And even if it is stolen, it doenst matter now, as there is no way to determine what car tha trans came form now.

i do not care if it is stolen, i just wanted to know about the history of it. and should jh4 originally have a vin plate?

 

my usdm 00 trans has a JH4 vin plate rivoted to the front of the housing.

You SHOULD care if it's stolen, as buying stolen property is ILLEGAL and it keeps theives in the business of stealing our cars.

does the lsd stamp have jh4 as well?

im not saying im going to buy if it is stolen and i dont care about it. but i do care about is knowing if the jh4 is right on top, next to the lsd stamp if your transmission has green vin plate on it.

i was open for any inputs, now i do not want to see anything about stolen, i just want to know about the lsd stamp with jh4 and a vin plate, that is all i wanted from this thread.

 

Go ahead and report me. I'm just saying that stolen parts are definitely frowned upon. Saying you are interested in a part and don't care if it is stolen in this thread is like saying bomb on a plane. You will get a negative reaction. I understand that you aren't going to buy it, but saying stuff like that doesn't make any friends in the ITR thread.
