Honda Recall!!!!!
well i got a letter in the mail the other day bout my car being recalled for a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in the ignition switch on certain 98-00 civics.
they said its Electrical contacts in the ingnition switch can wear prematurely due to high electrical current passing through the switch.worn out ignition contacts could cause the engine to stall with out warning.(for example, hard to start, stalls immediately after starting, ect.) may indicate that igition switch is failing. my car started doing all this when i frist got it then it hasnt done it since so, has anyone else had this problem? If so im sure ull either get a letter or u should call Honda.

Thanks for the heads up!
My car has been acting up lately. Nothing major, but when at idle the engine feels much rougher than usual. (before it was so quiet i couldn't tell if the car was on.) I changed the air filter because it was dirty and this helped a little, but the car still idles rough. It may be due to the recall. I'm calling tomorrow. Thanks again.

just to let everyone know, when you go to get it fixed, make sure you bring the letter, because sometimes they wont do the work without it. at least they won't at my dealership.
you probably are not going to have any problems with getting a hard time. The Ignition switch recall applies to all Hondas, from 97-99. Just visit your local dealer. we just got the kits in stock this week.

Check the Honda owners site before getting excited. Plug in your VIN, and it will tell you if this recall applies to you. Apparently Honda got a batch of badly designed ignition switches that went into many Hondas between 97-2001. It didn't go into them ALL, and you may not need a replacement. When this defect happens, it is quite obvious, and is not subtle. Rough idling will not be a symptom. Either it won't start, or it won't run, or it will stall and not restart. Check the VIN and get a replacement if you need it.

if you have a 96-97 car, look for the emissions recall also. If you are eligable for this you get a free oil change, as well as a cap, rotor, plug wires and spark plugs!
