I'm curious ?????
The 954 1/4 mile time is listed at 10.2 My best friend and riding budy has a 929 he is running a 10.9 1/4 mile and that was after he dropped a tooth on his front sprocket. <<<--- Wich of course should make him faster. I will not take my bike to the drag strips around here b/c they are to slick. I like my hide.
By the way I ride a stock 954 with a gods given gift of a Scotts steering dampner. Anyways has anyone seen actual 1/4 mile times on a stock 954 ???? My budy has since dropped two teeth on the front sprocket

I thought dropping teeth (in front) increased the final drive ratio. Thus making the bike accellerate faster. Lower top speed. (I may be wrong)
example 10 teeth on front 40 teeth on rear. 4.0:1.0
20 teeth on front 40 teeth on rear. 2.0:1.0
As for the 1320 times on a 954, I would say that 10.2 should be pretty damn good. I remember reading that a Gixxer 1K would pull 9.97 in the 1320. So I would say the 954 times are fairly accurate in my opinion.

I dont consider the 954 as a straitline race bike so I have not looked at it that way. A PC3 and some other tweeks can take the notch out of the accelleration though...
Could be a rider difference...most magazine 1/4-mile tests are ridden by a short, lightweight guy who happens to race in his spare time (I'm thinking Kent Kunitsugu here, but I forgot which mag he writes for). Bikes aren't that easy to launch, especially high-horsepower short-wheelbase ones like the 929/954/R1 et al...keeping the front wheel down isn't easy, and wheelies don't help you go faster.
