Default 1991 CRX DX auto hard to shift sometimes

I have a CRX DX with an auto (yeah, don't laugh at me!) as my daily, and sometimes it's hard when I'm shifting from reverse to any other gear. Like, the stick itself is hard to move. If I shift slowly, it seems to get "stuck" at R but if I'm going from say D4 to P and I do it in one swift motion very quickly, it passes through R with no problem.

My GF has a 1990 DX hatch with an auto and her's is like this too. Is this something with just these shifters or is it something I should be concerned about?

It drives in reverse with no problems and shifts through all gears with no problem when I drive.

Most likely cause is a corroded shift cable/sheath. The solution is to replace the shift cable.
