why a rusty hood??
ok so im not hating on rusty hoods and fresh paint, but why do people do this ive just started noticing it more and dont really understand it?? ive seen some that look great but its been bothering me not knowing why??
why 'stanced' or 'hellaflush'? why roof racks that will never hold a bike or kayak? why JDM front on a USDM car? why neon underglow kits? why loud fart cans when the car could easily be quiet and just as fast?
why? because it's a trend. it will come and go like everything else.

ha ok i guess..wasnt hating just wondering seems its the same answer everywhere i look now...just a fad from vw guys...i used to be a vw guy but never woulda rocked a rusty body part and i was even east coast haha
it goes all the way back to old rat rods where they basically threw together a bunch of crap just to make a fast car, alot of times they didnt paint or didnt want too and they would rust up, its a trend that i dont understand myself cause i do everything i can to avoid rust

haha i built a ironhead harley a few months ago and everyone told me to make it rat style, i couldnt do it, fresh paint looks alot sexier than rust metal!!
Rat rod style on older German car:

Trying to take the old car style to a new car:

They both look terrible, but at least the older one makes more sense...

Rat rods were put together with the parts available that would work. Paint is secondary to getting the car together and running. Rat rods have more to do with function than anything to do with looks.
A 20-year-old or newer VW or Honda with a rust hood... it's not like those parts are hard to come by. Usually those owners take a fine hood and purposefully rust it.
All part of the quest of a Honda owner trying to be different on a budget.
i have seen a car in person where they guy actually got grass to grow on his car, i was a kid at the time or i would have asked more questions on how he got it to stay on the car when he drove it
