Default wheel bearing?

i was wondering how to check and make sure your wheel bearings are/not good.? my car is pretty loud and i cant hear very well besides, so rule out listening for the noise.. i have a slight vibration devolping in the steering wheel mostly on the highway.. im going to rotate my tires next oil change and see if that helps. i know it could be alignment, im just trying to rule out anything before i take it for alignment cause around here they rape me for full alignment, my car is lowered.. there has to be a way to check these right.?

thanks in advance.

lol well i know u said rule out noise but that's mainly how you can tell they make more noise when you turn left or right, typically a pulsing roar.. also any play in and out on the knuckle that doesn't cause the tie rod to move.

listening is a very good indicator on where it is coming from. another thing you can do while driving is to swerve, in a safe area of course where you are going to hit anyone, left and right to see if the noise goes away when turning right or left. this is an easy way to tell if its a wheel bearing.

as for the vibration you could just need a tire balance if you say its noticeable at highway speeds, that is usually the most likely suspect

90% of the "wheel bearing problems" out there are tires.........rotate your tires and see if the noise moves.......
