what exactly is a balance shaft and why do people get rid of them
like the title says what exactly is a balance shaft? What is its purpose? and finally why do people seem to always get ride of them? thanks
"The reason that the H22 has balance shafts is because of it's size and relatively bad rod/stroke ratio."

and some insight and why they are removed

^^^ read those but in a nut shell the balance shaft mainly found on bigger motors like the h22a are there to help stop unwanted engine vibrations during acceleration. Therefore, its suppose to make driving more comfortable. However, most of the swappers just remove it because they could care less about ride quality when they have stiffer aftermarket mounts that will vibrate the car anyways.
You don't have to totally get rid of it, you can just remove the belt that's on it and it won't rotate anymore. However, people remove them for a clean look and weight reduction. You mainly find these on race setups or h2b owners such as myself

Yeah, but with the Kaizenspeed kit, you need to have your head off and you need to plug up the holes that send oil into the balance shaft chamber. And then installing that plate also =[ i wish it was that simple.
