I am installing a D16y8 into a 91 EE wagon. I was woundering if I need to change my exhaust manifold. I am having trouble with the exhaust manifold hitting the side of the oil pan. Yes I have searched but I have not heard anyone running into the problem I am having.

Just FYI, you CAN'T bump threads. People will post replies if they may or do know the answer. But as I told you, get rid of the stock exhaust manifold and get an 4-2-1 header. I'm running my Y7 with one without any problems at all. Clears the oil pan by over an inch.

you are trying to use a d15 manifold most likely
find a stock exhaust manifold from a 88-91 civic si or ex, or same years crx si. they come with a d16a6
reason for touching? d15 block is shorter

Anyways here are some pics.

You can cut the bracket it off and that should give it enough clearance. But an easier way is just to go to a junkyard and find a D16 exhaust mani. I don't see why a header will make the car look "not stock"
why not just switch teh d15 oil pan over? or get a bone stock y8 manifold? it should bolt right up to the stock ee exhaust manifold, you can still use stock heat sheilds, and flows a bit better than the 4-1 than the cast one.

Sounds like a good idea but have you personally try to do any of the suggestions? I am on a budget and not really lokking to spend extra cash.
Not making any assumptions at all,you said you wanted to keep the car "bone stock" and I don't know of any EE that came bone stock with a D16y8 in it and your other cars sucking gas have nothing to do with that.
But back to the point of your post your exhaust manifold seems to be the problem and you can fix it by using a D16 one from a civic or crx Si,it should be easy to pick a stock one up with the number of people that put headers on.Try craigslist or other local web sites in your area and you should get one within your budget.

I really dont get why the op is so negative towards the suggestions. they already told you to change the manifold numerous times and you arent listening. And you asked the guy if he had tryed a y8 stock manifold on...does he have to actually try a stock manifold on a motor that it was designed for to know if it fits? Thats like asking if he knows how to tie someone elses shoes....of course he knows this but he doesnt have to try this to know if it works. It is the manifold that was designed for the motor and will bolt up to your exhaust.
Damn i dont get why people come on here and ask for help then arent open to the suggestions that others give. why even ask if you know so much or if you think anyone else knows so little.
Back to the topic now and sorry for going so far off topic. Id change the manifold to any other 1.6 d series as it will provide the clearance needed. a y8 mani would be ideal as it wont hit the sides of the oil pan like yours is now.
