Default My new RHD JDM DC2 Type R

Been a while since Ive been on here and alot has changed. Some of you may have seen my old eg6 build, well I old the eg6 back in febuary, bought a beater and went on the hunt for a mint unregistered Dc2, finally picked one up around June. 98spec, champ white, standard except for a fujitsibu cat back exhaust and spitfire leads.
A pic of the old car

The first day I got the dc2 after a quick wash

car was sitting up for a year or two, so unfortunatly the engine bay had suffered. Also thiefs decided to take, the Type R floor mats, Gear ****, some of the carbon trim, flare, and the stereo system.

The bay

So got to work on the bay:
removed the earthing kit
new bolts
painted valve cover
got a spark cover,
cleaned up bay and block
HKS mushroom filter
HKS oil cap
removed manifold cover and painted manifold black

next thing was to restore the interior, so got the various trims I was missing, new Type R mats. And the party piece, the extremely rare OEM gathers carbon head unit that I managed to come across

Random shot

85,000km on clock

Dropped it a few mil on TEIN STECHS, and this is how it stands now pretty much

^sabelt 4 point harnesses

Going to be a slow build really, alot of expensive plans and no money to do them.

All comments welcome, Thank you

OK sorry guys I havent updated on here in a while so il bring you up to date!

I got some sweet new wheels!

The silvia wheels were temporary while I got the 98spec wheels refurbished, they were mint but had very slight scratches so decided to get them repainted

Pic from car show with JDM Da6 and DC5

New callipers Not trying to fake the funk... just like the look!

Decided to paint my boot (trunk) floor
looked all ugly like this

This was the end result, single seat set up was for drag racing!

Put down a 14.28 at the strip, not bad for a stock ITR

Rocked the semi stripped look for a while

Look some nice shots with it back daily mode

Next thing I did was improve my cold air feed as the HKS mushroom filter suffers from heat soak!

SO I remover my resonator box

While I was there i decided to shoot the front panel with some matte black as I hated the white peeking through the mouth of the bumper!

Made a very discrete cold air duct from some piping taken from the resonator box connected to some flexi piping which is connected to this......

Made another duct for engine bay and fabricated an aluminium heat shield! This set up is working extremely well, intake temperatures have improved and the feels more repulsive and sounds much more aggressive!

I recently picked up some gab sports!

I re polished the lips, stripped the paint on the centres and repainted them.

I have no rubber to put on the Gab sports and think the car will need to be lower to pull them off, so Im not rushing to get them on!

Well car wasnt getting much attention with work and the fact that I hardly use it at the moment! So had the afternoon of yesterday and today which result in yet another top to bottom clean
Started with interior which was a bit farmer spec!
:lol!:

Cleaned seats with red wollite and have to say it was the best results I ever got, really happy with it! Scrubbed all the carpet and mats!

End result, seats are really poping, can never make up my mind about harnesses once they are out... Il leave em out for a while, prob be back in shortly!

After washing mats I decided to re polish the emblems and repaint the gunmetal

Before

After

Was some water in passenger tail light so took it out and dried it out.... Also I may have gone a bit far but I think it looks really well. I shaved of the writting on the lights with a blade, wet sanded it and rebuffed the lights... result is

Side repeaters got same treatment
Before

After

Also wet sanded and machine polished headlights and they came out even better than before really happy with em. The entire car got a machine polish followed by hand polish...... twice!

Finally I got rid of the "JDM" stickers I never really liked on the back window a good while ago and replaced it with this

Its a really cool badge I think, was in my old eg6 when it came from japan in original packaging. Finally decided to use it and I love it!

I'd say if you were to get a harness, some may say they're played out, but if I had a white ITR with OE red Recaro's... I'd get some Green Takata's.

Car's looking fresh too. Rocker cover choice.... eh, to each is own. J's Racing Teal would look beautiful on it.

What do you guys want more pics of exactly? I though I had everything covered but I have hundreds of pics if you want to see!

@Boosted teg: Ya dude I would love a set of Takatas, maybe some day when I have the cash, until then the Sabelts will have to suffice! I am considering an x brace or half roll cage with a harness bar! But on the other hand I like keeping the OEM look!

As for the rocker cover, I liked the green last year when I did it, but I want to change it now, not exactly sure what I am going to go for. I am considering just going with the simple red wrinkle OEM look!

Or you could just make it look like a Spoon Sports rocker cover. That wouldn't look bad imo.

But you can't really beat the OE wrinkle Red. Hmm, I wonder if anyone has done wrinkle Yellow? Lol

Thanks guys, yup I really like the cold air set up, it doesnt look too bad and functions very well!

Haha man, I like your style I was thinking of making a spoon replica cover also! Yellow wrinkle would be different too! Pretty sure Il go for the red wrinkle! The green was more for ***** and gigs, I wanted to keep outside of the car really simple but wanted to go a bit crazy in the engine bay! But Im getting sick of it now! haha

@Hatchy69: Thanks man, I always keep things simple! If your reffering to the tailights I had on the eg6, I was only 17 and was a bit crazy and thought they looked good! I was originally in the market for OEM stlye 50/50s but dont know how I ended up with those horrible things haha!! At least I took them off a while after! I still stand by the headlights though, I think they suited it!

@max: I still cant decide on the harnesses, I like them some days and dont other days! At least they are easy to swap in and out!

I LOVE those Sabelts. I'm trying to get a set myself once I get some Recaros. If an F1 racecar can rock those, then my DC can rock em too.

Nice ride man. Can't wait to see it with the Gabs on.

Been meaning to get new badges since the day I got the car, I dont know why but just never got around to it untill now!

OLD vs New

front

Was getting tired of the green rocker cover so decided to change the engine bay theme around .

Was pretty happy with results

with all this new shinyness I decided to give the engine bay a proper clean from top to bottom

Drit around the hinges was cleaned, stuttle pannel removed and repainted in champ white

Decided to polish the 98spec Mani and remove the heat shield bracket

Polished all the ABS lines and engine mount. Any cleaned the engine block again. Dark pciture will get better ones soon

Took it drag racing again, heres a typical rainy irish pic with a pretty much identical ITR and a 2000 Type Rx to the right
