I just bought a civic type r head with ITR cams today. From the outside it looks good. Has Ferrea valves with supertech valve springs and all the goodies and is slightly p&p'd. So I get back from my 4 hour drive and start taking it apart and this is what I find...

That's all I'll say for now. I just want to see what you guys think.

I just realized the pictures I have on my computer are higher res than the ones I posted since photo bucket is crap.
On normal wear that I see you can run your finger across it and it's nice and smooth. The cam is perfectly smooth. But the last spot where the cam sits before it gets to the cam gear there are grooves. It reminds me of a brake rotor that isn't wearing correctly. Instead of it being nice and smooth there are "groove" bastards in there.

i would be more concerned with the LMA's those are what often have the crazy wear patterns and are a wear and tear item. what you have posted can easily happen with aftermarket cams that aren't as smooth as oem. aluminum usually looses to iron
These were milled instead of cast. Cast rails are found on obd0 b16. Milled on all obd1+ dohc vtec.
This is what yours should look like-

Are you talking about the ones in my pictures? If so, yes those are obd0. They don't go with this head. On that table I have an old alaniz head, a b16 obd0, b18b, b18c and the '01 type r head. My cam plates are still in the garage.

Luckily the person I got the head from is being cool. I let him know the head was bad and he's going to give me another head off of his motor that has never been touched. So I'll be taking the valves and valve springs off of the type r head and throwing them into the b16 head. I'll just have to have the valves cleaned up, lapped and resealed. I'll be going to get the head Sunday. I'll also get a vtec solenoid and intake manifold along with the head. So hopefully this next one is good so I can have this thing done by the 29th. I'm starting to wish I didn't sell my last build so quickly lol.
