Need to know how to make a 89 crx si engine harness fit on a 88 crx si is it as easy as swapping the chassis harness main plug to the round 8 pin or is there more that need to be done? Need help
lol i tell my friends with efs this all the time its really not possible i dont think unless you wanna spend like....24 hours swapping out the whole harness including under dash fuel pump tail lights etc.. if you just do under dash and under hood harness the dx fuel pump wiring and tail light wiring doesnt connect take your time dont be scared read mpfi write ups way less complicated then you think ive only done mpfi about 15 times i can do it with out even looking at anything.

Ok now the 88 crx si has a spuare 6 pin main plug and the 89 has a round 8 pin can't u just swap out the plugs? I read something about swapping the plugs and what to do with the left over two wire but not sure

Ok but if I swap the 89 round plug on my 88 crx si chassis harness would everything work properly? That's my main concern
You can always ask Honda to get u a diagram of the 88 si and one from an 89 si. Then just see what wire goes where. Then so u don't mess up any if the wiring you can make a quick adapter and plug in the newer harness and hope for the best

what is the point of doing this? youd still have to run 4 wires to the ecu im pretty sure it wont change anything besides having the 4 injector plugs already and the 2 extra dizzy wires
dude, read the post. the 88 crx si has mpfi. the only difference is that on the driver shock tower it has a 6pin rectangular plug instead of an 8pin round plug.
as stated above, the two extra wire are for the ficv. however, i do believe that a few pins don't match with the 6pin plug. not sure which ones, but i noticed they weren't all the same.
after building an engine harness for both myself and another member on here, i took the time to literally make myself a pin out. and on 89-91 mpfi driver shock towers you have the following wires leading to the 8 pin round connector:
1. signal wire for injector 1, 2, 3 and 4
2. ground wire for fast idle thermal valve (i forget the actual name of it)
3. input signal for fast idle thermal valve
4. power wire for injector resistor box, and
5. signal wire for idle air control valve
so if all that is not there on an 88 si you should be ok re-pinning either the si harness of stock shock tower harness in the appropriate locations
