autozone axles
does anyone know if the axles you can buy at autozone or schucks n stuff that have the core charge, are good quality reliable axles? i still have stock engine so i dont need those fancy hasport ones
no, they are not good quality axles, but they have a lifetime warranty so when they go bad you get replacements for free. they'll last for a little while but be prepared to replace them frequently.
This autozone 'new' axle broke off inside my differential... meaning I had to teardown my trans to get that piece out. I was launching at an autocross on STREET tires when it happened.

Autozone exchanged it for a reman axle + some money for the difference.
I applied the money towards some Raxles (a few years ago now) and never had a problem since. The reman axle is sitting in my garage as a backup or for friends-in-need.

ive been running some kragen reman axles on my rex (used the same axles with my old LS swap and currently the same axles with my LSV swap) and have not had any problems since i did the swap some 5yrs ago. i dont see the need to have to spend $$$$ on Raxles if your not gonna be hitting any high numbers. but its everyone's choice.
With Raxles you dont have to remove your dust rings. They are not like mega bucks or anything, I think I paid $300 for my set. It is just like anything else, if you want quality then it will cost more.
i just need new axles that are more reliable and iv already decided not to go with the autozone ones. i know shucks does have another kind thats like $150 with out a core charge but i dont know if its good quality. ill go in and ask what brand it is tomorrow. unless anyone knows the brand already and can tell me if they are good

ive done it before too. not breaking it, but had the axle come out because i didnt fully seat it properly. it just looks like you had some bad luck and it came out at the wrong time.
I recently bought axles from shucks i had to get one re-manufactured and one constant velocity and i must say the constant velocity one works well. The re-manufactured one though is a whole different story i did an exchange on an old axle that the boot broke on literally the same day i put it on, dumping grease all over under my car and its only been 4 months or so driving my car and the boot has already started to break again on the exchanged axle. Not cool shouldn't have to replace the axle every year or 2 even if its free to exchange.
autozone axles are fine... i use them on my 90 TsI which makes way more torque then ur honda lol and its awd so launching is way tougher on the axle, ur problem also could lie in how u launch ur car, if u dont slip the clutch and u just dump it and get wheel hop ur axle will break. Wheel hop + Fwd = broken axles.
the ones i bought at kragen didnt have dust rings. so i dont see why that would make a difference or matter for the quality. you just gotta make sure you give the correct info. the sales person can only give you parts related to the info he/she gets from the customer.
the axles ran me $50/each with the cores turned in. also the better side to buying them locally, is that you dont have to send your axles back in the mail and wait for the replacements to come in so you can drive your car. i took LoidBanks extra set of broken axles and warrantied them out, so now i have an extra set new reman axles sitting in my closet if i ever need them, LOL.
