Default Swapped Engine Weights %

I have a 89 HB SI, of course, I've been wanting to do a swap, BUT I do not want to upset the weight balance of the car, or if possible, IMPROVE the weight balance.

How much does the stock SI d16 weight?? How much heavier is the b18??? I'm thinking the b16a might be a better choice, as far ar weight is concerned...

*If I'm not mistaken more weight in the nose of the car would cause more understeer....

I wouldn't see a problem, I have a 88 Si, I swapped the B16A and have had no issue with the weight, I also know of several guys who have the LS/Vtec, B18C1/5, B17A and so on and none have had any problems with weight distribution, just make sure to get the proper engine mounts (or have them fabricated by a respected machine shop).

from my experiences most of the b-series engines weights are very similar. you should only have to worry about the added weight when swapping in a significantly larger motor, like the H22.

D series is still about 75lbs lighter than any B series. Just depends what you want to do with the car.

Anytime you add weight over the front wheels you are upsetting the weight balance of a FWD car.
