Is my thermostat bad?
Here's the deal. My cooling system is all topped off. brand new oem honda water pump, good newer aftermarket single core radiator, thermostat has less than 300 miles on it and was ordered from Honda, and my fan cycles on and off as it should. My heater blows hot air, but my temperature gauge's needle hangs out just above the "C" on my gauge cluster unless i let it idle for a while, like in a drive through or in traffic. When it idles for a while, the needle climbs to 1/4 of the way up on the gauge. both upper and lower radiator hoses feel equally warm, and I'm not throwing any codes.
Does this mean my thermostat is not working correctly?
my motor is a rebuilt a6/z6 mini me, usual mods, and i'm using the z6 thermostat housing and z6 thermostat.
I found this thread in the integra forum with a similar problem, but i wanted a second opinion from some feller EDers. https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/temperature-low-when-driving-long-roads-normal-city-driving-why-2819660/
here's some pix to emphasize what i'm talking about.
over night cold:

driving around, crackin vtec, cruising lightly, the needle stays the same:

this is what it looks like idling, once i start driving again it goes back to pic two:

thanks for the help!
p.s. for those wondering i have a gsr cluster in my car, not a stock ed one.

Ever since I took my a/c out, my car does the same thing. I've driven from CA to UT during the day and the temp stays about where yours is lol.
I'd like to know if this is normal as well, gl.

yeah i don't have either, currently. i know the sensor is not bad, i re used it from my d15b1 and with that motor, and all it's problems, the needle hung out around 1/4 to 1/2 constantly, unless it was over heating. if anything i would have figured my temp gauge was going to be a smidge high, i have a ss 4-2-1 ebay header that isn't wrapped, and i painted the **** out of the front of my radiator (all black)
i suppose i should ad that my overflow bottle does not over flow any more since i replaced my head gasket (thankfully) and the only other non honda part on my cooling system, besides hoses and radiator, is the radiator cap, which is a knecht's stock replacement, non stant style

Remove your thermostat and heat it up, note the temperature it fully opens at, usually it's around 90*C (whatever that turns out to be in *F). If its much before that then replace the thermostat.
Sounds like it's opening too much too soon.

Does not compute. You either have a Honda thermostat (Nippon Thermostat or Fuji Thompson) or you don't. If you don't, then you should. I've seen more cooling system problems than I can count caused by non-OE thermostats.
