Default Koni/GC dust boots

So I've read the write up Patrick did a while ago. But he said the autozone boots ended up not working well because they rubbed on the springs. And the joke that is the condom boot. But I'm looking for some serious info on what will work. I have koni race shocks (8041-race) and 2.5" eibach springs and want to use dust boots. I know I really don't have to. But it's really more of a personal preference.

So who has a working setup? What boots did you use? Where did you get them from? Seems like the autozone boots would work well IF they were just a tad smaller diameter.

rancho makes a boot that fits the 2.5" springs just fine. they don't rub and are easy to zip tie. head to a 4x4 store and look for the narrow rancho accordion boots

Do you even need to install these???? I have seen alot of setup without them. I have koni & gc. Instruction says to use the stock dust boot but only 1 1/2. You have to cut them.

No it's not 100% necessary. But it's just a personal preference. I don't want dirt and **** getting in there. The stock dust boots are worthless and nearly unusable with the gc/koni combo. Cutting them makes it useless as any real protection, plus I don't think the stock dust shields fit over the konis, I could be wrong though as I haven't tried.
