Default Avgas on a stock motor??

Will running avgas on a stock B16a with I/H/E make a power difference??? The compression for a stock motor is pretty high. A lot of locals say it will only make a difference if I up my compression but these are V8 heads....

I've done a search but I was after drag racers input. What would I do with the timing if I run avgas???

TIA

Not sure about the timing, but race gas will only give improvements if the pump gas still causes detonation.

I wouldn't do it. If i'm not mistaken avgas is a leaded gas which would not go good with stock valve seals. All I know is when I used to fuel planes it was blue

also, lead + O2 sensors = bad.

Yep you will lose power unless you are already detonating, one thing you could do is advance the ignition timing when racing! You can use av gas for in small amounts it doesn't ruin your o2 sensors straight away I think you get about 5 hours use before you clog the o2 sensors. Check out mobil race gas if you can it only has .58 mg of lead per litre most av gas has about 5.8mg/litre

Doesn't sound like it's worth the hassle

Thanx for the responses...

avgas = burned exhaust valves from the SLOW flame front.

You can have too much octane!

I would not do it, you will not benefit from it... esp. on a stock motor.

Now if your timing is crazy aggressive and your running like 12:1 compression or more... it would be a different story.
