nice story, CA riders please read....
-this was posted on another MC forum. after seeing a couple of videos posted by lifesuxdie, I have always wanted to spend a week or two in SoCal and head on up to the canyons. should I make plans elsewhere? cops, fire and then the daily dangers of riding???? we have none of this in CO or NewEngland where I am currently residing....
-I can't believe what you guys go through, ride safe and keep it stock I guess.....

as one who has grown up here in so cal and that has been riding these canyons since the late seventies, I can honestly say that they are done for the most part. it's not the same scene as it was even a few years ago before this latest boom of younger riders began to discover them.
In the old days it was a real adventure going out there, like a western frontier... now it's like pulling up to Starbucks for coffee, hard parking while you bench race with the next weekend warrior.
Here locally you used to be able to go for literally miles without seeing a sole... or ride Angeles crest all the way through to Wrightwood and Azuza for well over 100 miles when those routes were open... no cop was going to catch you when you have three exit routes.
I remember in the very early eighties you could see Eddie Lawson(upland), Wayne Rainey(Downey) and Randy Mamola(to just name a few) riding up there when they were back from the GP wars... you haven't lived until you've been riding the twisties at about 7-8/10ths and have someone come up from behind you so fast that it literally makes your heart jump out of your chest... pause for a second before disappearing into the distance a corner later to the point where you couldn't even see them any more, Truly awesome.
the later we get from that early period the further out you need to go to get that same feeling... to the point where we were riding hundred of miles round trip just to get away. Now it's become a real chore to find secluded roads where you and a handful of select friends can have fun, and if you find a spot... we're not saying where it is over the internet.
Still, if you are looking for some of the best roads and best riding conditions in the USA they are here. You could probably ride for months on end and never hit the same section of road twice... But majestic roads like Angeles crest are hard to top even if they have become overly populated and over policed and in some disarray from weather and fires.
