thirth gear grinding
I have a problem with a rebuild S80 transmission, it's grinding in third gear.
All synchros 1-5 have been replaced with new Synchrotech carbon synchros and the 3-4 sleeve set (sleeve+hub) has also been replaced by a new oem copy.
The first 150 miles every gear shifted very smooth at low and high rpms, but suddenly third gear was grinding (without over-revving, miss shifts whatever). First, second, fourth en fifth gear are still shifting smooth but third gear isn't working anymore without grinding, even on low rpms/slow speeds. It feels like the third synchro isn't synchronising at all. Only when I set it in neutal and double clutch it will go in thirth gear smoothly on low speeds only.
Setup: Civic EG, B16b engine, S80 tranny, B16 EG rear T bracket, B18c EG distributor side bracket, B18c upper transmission bracket, Avid Eg DC2 mounts, DC2 shift linkages with energy suspension bushings, fastline shifter, Torco RTF transmission fluid.
Anyone familiar with this problem or know what's wrong?
Could it be caused because I use a EG B16 rear T bracket or is it something from inside the transmission that's wrong? Any help or suggestions will be very appreciated. thanks

Check your mounts. The rear t bracket might be why.
I have the same problem. I gotta rebuild it though and find out for sure. I have all stiff mounts. It shifted fine before though. I hate 3rd gear tho, its killing my 1/4mile since i cant hold the gas down and shift. I have to ease the shifter into 3rd gear slower and not slam it into gear (while clutch is down) or it grinds loud or shifting real fast it just doesnt go in, like there's a wall or no gear.

you replaced the synchros and it was a band-aid, my guess is that the sliders or sleeves. they wear as well as the synchros. but they are like 275 each most poeple dont even look at them. one thing i am sure of is it is NOT your t bracket.
