CRX or Civic VX Hatchback?
In my search for a car, quite simply, I have come to these two options; but i'm not confident with one..
At first I was CRX, then HB, and now I return to CRX (hint: continuing process)
I think by default I prefer the CRX, but two options attach me to the Civic HB: trunk space and extra seats. I was planning on camping a lot, to which I thought on some nights it would just be easier to sleep in the car.
So my first question, does the back space of a Civic HB utilize this option with the back?
As for the seats, I can only curse at the European manufacturers for making a back seat to one of their CRX models. (or imagine hauling people in the trunk using yoga pads)
But in reflection, is how the Civic HB seats fold back obtrusive?
And does anyone that has driven both, can they compare the driving experience of the two cars. Is it much different? I feel like I may be giving in to choose the Civic.
And anyones experience driving either car would be a great help. This decision is hard for me too because my motivation in choosing the cars now is not based as much on racing or saving fuel, but the experience.
I know this decision between two great cars is down to personal preference, but right now i'm in post operation surgery, and momentarily unavailable to test or feel either.
Edit: While I do appreciate both of the cars external appearances as what to me renders a gokart and a taco car, what i'm trying to see is the internal/inside experience in the car. I think it is best for me to leave that open ended for people to describe.
I did like how one person said in the CRX, everything is within hands reach; but a sort of chill spot in the back of a Civic HB seems appealing - if it works. Yet it could make the car feel empty to have that much space.
Thank for any input.
I'm currently browsing a Civic HB with around 100,000 miles on it, and there are quite a few CRXs to find (if they have not been modified to the extreme.

Well, the seats in the hatchback are always nice to have...
After driving a CRX for a year, I got fed up with the seats! I always wanted to have someone in the back, so I am building up a hatchback now too.
CRX does not have cup holders... It's possible to put them in, but they are not as functional as the possible Civic cupholders/arm rest combo (from a DC integra).
Performance wise, handling, etc... They are pretty much the same. CRX Si = D16a6, Civic Si = D16a6. Same stuff really, except the 90-91 CRX has rear disks?
In the CRX, interior wise, it is a nice dash set-up. The middle vents are very fragile though, but there is more storage places for CD's and cards or whatever. The stereo and vent controls are angled towards you, which feels much more natural.
In the Civic, it's still a nice dash set-up. Having the option to change out the center console for the Integra one is really nice though... Makes it feel a little sportier, random storage compartment for cards and whatever, and cupholders! Plus a nice armrest with storage in it. Very simple mod, console cost me $40 with armrest too.
CRX sunroof is not glass, it's a panel that moves out of the way instead.
Civic sunroof is glass, and slides out of the way. There is also a cover for it as well.
Quite a few people like to buy a Civic, and swap in a CRX dash.
I prefer Hatchbacks, honestly. Trunk space is nice, seats fold down nicely too. I can throw my BMX in the back, and still have someone sit in the back seat as well. If you really want the CRX dash, it isn't hard to swap in.
That's my two cents!
