WHAT CAN I GET FOR $1000?
Im trying to get my car painted and i took everything out off my car engine brake lines door panels carpet exterior lights fenders bumpers and i wanted to know what kind of paint job can i get for $1000?
I paid around that to have my car painted. You just have to find a decent shop that uses good products. My car has two base coats and two coats of PPG clear and the paint is now almost 5 years old and still looks pretty good.
You could take the plunge and paint it yourself. Tghere is no feeling in the world better than doing your own work to the car and seeing the end result.
Paint can cost that alone depending on the color and etc.
What kind of car is it and what color do you plan on doing?
The hardest part about painting a car is the prep work. The painting itself is easy.

exactly what these guys above me said... it all depends on who you find to do it and what kind of quality they're willing to do for what price. the materials used also really affect the price and finished quality. you also have to think about the color. a tri-coat candy color will cost far more than a solid color like champ white.
if i use the same materials i use on a $13,000 paint job (like the 'vette we just did), there's no way in hell i can do an overall job for $1000. PPG waterbased basecoat with high end PPG clear would cost $600-$900 by itself. if i use a single stage paint or a cheaper solvent based basecoat with a cheaper clear, i could maybe get it to around $1500 since you've taken everything off of it anyway.
the main thing that drives up the cost of paint work is the body work required before paint. body work also includes primer, because primer has nothing to do with paint, it's really the last step in body work. if the car has lots of spots of body work required and the customer wants a real high quality job, the entire car must be primed and then blocked out before paint. even on a cheaper overall job, this is still a process that requires lots of labor. time costs lots of money.

If i was local to you, i would come spray the car for you for nothing. I do it all of the time here. Body work is the main thing you have to worry about. I always go over a car with a fine tooth comb before even thinknig about getting my guns out to spray the car.
