CEL came on two days ago and I am headed to get that diagnosed today. However, the D5 light started flashing at startup this morning. Stayed lit no mater if in park or in gear. The vehicle was shutoff and restarted and the light did not flash again. Two questions:

1) Is the flashing D5 light a readable code?
2) With the light only coming on at startup and not coming back on after restart indicate a electronic malfunction more so than a complete transmission failure?

My research has not given me a definent answer. Before I take this to the dealer I want some valid advice/input on possible causes before they decide to tell me the transmission is shot.

You probably got it looked at already but the CEL is for the engine computer and the D light is for the trans computer, just hook up to a scanner and see what you have.

 

i have an 03 mdx with a flashing d5 light trans is operating fine drives well just light is flashing can any one help there are no dtc's stored.
