Default Civic eg or ek hatch

I am close to buying one of the above hatches to build in to my new track car, I have a fully built b16 to go in with some other nice parts. Question is which chassis is going to best as an out and out drag car? Pros and cons of both would be nice. Any help would be immense.

eg's are the norm and most popular due to there weight. Ek's are a bit heavier and harder to get light. back in the day I chose my ek chassis simply because I liked the look of it and I'm a big guy and it felt a lil roomier. But even till now, I'm trying to lighten it up (2604 with me in it haha)

i hateee the wiring on OBD2 cars (EK)..I had my EK down to 2220lbs without me in it . With NO cutting. I like the Newer look of the EK chassis. I hate the driver "tripod" mount on the EK. Even wehn you swap it out for somthing aftermarket, It is still pront to rip.

Everyoneeeeeeeeeeee has EGs (especially Red ones). But they are Light and Classic.

So pick you poison!

Im not worried too much about looking good I just want to go as fast as possible. Its difficult because over he in the U.K it rains alot and cars rust fast, finding a decent eg will be difficult but if its worth it I will hold out. The minimum weight including driver is 1039kg (2290lb) for the class I want to enter.

No cutting, still had rear bumper support, just driver seats, and all pannels, Rear discbrakes, power doors (no cage). Full tank of Gas!

your first problem is that b16. Get something with a little more meat on it and throw it into an eg.

Yup, even with your list of goodies, your at what??400-450hp?? Thats nice and cute and all. You can get that power out of a stock k series with a turbo. And 11,000+rpms means what?? Look at anybody who drag races and see how many of them are revving that high, maybe 1 outa 15. And that one isnt getting any advantage. Unless your road racing , that 11k+ rpms is for the birds.

Why would I use a 6765 if I were looking for only 400-450hp? You are talking complete poo my friend

what are you talking about?

I don't see why he won't be able to make 700whp+ on a build B16 (lil low on Tq, but hey.I'm sure it will run the #)

There was a guy on here with a stock B16 (or piston n rods, can't remember) running 10's.

We had a 84mm B16 making 667whp.

Stop feeding him BS! Sure a 1.8L would yeild more power and tq, But he will be fine with what he has.

both will work..i like EK's more becuase they are newer (less wear-n-tear/rust ect ect) but i also like EG's when done right! i just weighed my ek and it's 2160 without me in it WITHOUT any cutting! and it still has interior from back seats forward! just go with whatever is the cheapest/cleanest lol..
