Just finished my B16A2 swap into my DX hatch, few problems, please help!!??
I just finished up my swap, the engine runs fine, no MIL light or nothing, but the car idles sometimes at 1500, then other times at 900, then sometimes (when I'm at a light) it idles up and down between 900 and 1500 RPM, does anyone know what could be the source of this problem, also my fuel cut off is at 7000 RPM for some reason (even though the comp has been removed of rev and speed limiter), can anyone please help me, thanks.
Martin
PS - I wired up the comp myself, from a DX to SiR, VTEC works fine too, the car runs great, only have problems at idle, could anyone please help, thanks.
PSS - I have no muffler either, could this be the prob.?? I have a straight pipe after the header (DC Sports 4-1) and the stock DX exhaust after the straight pipe, but no muffler, someone please help, thanks.

my Si used to do that also, and it was just the idle control sensor. but if thats not the problem then you should check your fuel injector wiren harnesses, and make sure there tightly connected to the injectors. and spray some cleaner into your throttle body to make sure its not sticken.
My Idle Air Control valve was loose, I tightened that up and it fixed the idle somewhat. But occasionally it would want to stall but then it tries to fix itself, does anyone know what may cause that?? Also I just got a code 17, looked it up at hybrid honda and it says 17 is VSS sensor, but I thought our civics/crx didn't have a VSS, I hooked up the cable speed sensor but it reads a little jumpy, the speedometer jumps up and down, what could I have done wrong, I pushed in the cable until it clicked, do I need to do anything else?? Thanks again for all the help.

PS - I'm in Elkridge, MD
PSS - where did everyone hook up their MAP sensor, on the throttle body or on the intake manifold????

I have had 3 honda in a row including my current '91 hf/ b16a1 and all of them "idle hunted" some.my cousin is a mechanic and he said that was common for aged hondas, now if your car is stalling because of that you probably have a problem. I have read that adding an ignition system or replacing your coil can fix "idle hunt", don't know how true that is though. My b16 will go from about 1100 rpms to 500 rpms at idle sometimes. my bro lives in elkridge, i'm down that way sometimes. I reside in Towson Md.

I'm a mechanic too, but a rookie mechanic, plus this is my first ever swap (that I did myself), I do have a MSD coil installed so that may not be the problem, right now I'm thinkin it's the TPS but the dealer only sells that along w/a throttle body
I'm still tryin to figure the prob out, thanks again everyone for your help, if anyone else has any more ideas, please share, thanks.

check the idle air control valve on the back of the intake manifold, that should not be a TPS problem. if you do need a tps, just take it off of any other honda and put it in your throttle body. easier said than done though.
