How do you guys wash/clean your bike?
I use....i dunno how to spell it but... cerosene (the ones you use in a stove)
or i use simple green. and for brakes and carbs, i use a carburator cleaner.
eh, i have nothing better to use and no money
EDIT: oh and dont forget my toothbrush and some tide. it works really good for brake dust.

That Honda polish is good stuff
I also use that tire foam stuff on unpainted plastic parts, it kind of "moisturizes" them in the same way armor all does.
Occasionally, I will use WD-40 too. It's good for cleaning the swingarms and other places that get the chainlube crap on them.

I use this stuff called Plexus...it rocks. You spray it on...aerosol...then wipe it down. It's a wax/polish that takes some minor scratches out while giving one hell of a shine. I have also heard of guys using Pledge...it's got wax in it and you don't have to worry about getting excess wax in cracks ect.

I As for plexus, its great but don't touch any clear surfaces w/ it or it may leave them opaque. ...
Plexus is used by the USN to clean the fighter jet canopies...works best and is intended for cleaning windshields/helmet visors.

This plastic polish is used by NASA and the Air Force.
In fact, it's mandated for use on the B1B Stealth Bomber to clean, polish and protect the canopy. That's a $300,000.00 canopy!

interesting, you could be right. My memory hasn't been the same since I dumped w/ an HJC on. Something hard was all up in my temple. I think plexus does something else to a certain surface. Maybe rubber or textured plastic? Or one of the other apply and wipe off products clouds up the windshield. Thanks for the right fig, now I want to find out what it was. hmmmm
so as my bike gets grimier, i've been wondering about this topic.
1. so if i were to hose down my bike, are there certain areas of the bike that i should be careful not to get water into?
2. all the ppl who mentioned s100 or plexus, etc. are your plastics still looking good and protected well? for simple green, do u need to dilute it first (cuz it's pretty caustic stuff)?
3. for areas where there are stickers on the plastics, would the spray&wipe type products harm them?
4. is it recommended to clean areas that are under certain areas of the plastics?
thx!

Absolutely, this is all I use.

When it comes to washing, I just treat it like a car. Hose it down and scrub it. When I need a quick wipe down, one thing to say:
PLEXUS > j0o
I use it on every single part of my bike, and especially my helmet. It cleans a helmet in like 2 seconds, and even helps buff small scratches out of your visor from what I've read. Oh yeah, and a little citrus stuff to remove grease from a couple areas (around the chain area when you have to lube and the Belray is at home)

just wash it like you would a car but alittle more on the gentle side, but for waxing the plastic, i use maguires wax. i have to try (well when i get a new bike

You could probably argue about WD-40 on motorcycle chain as much as people do engine break in procedures. Theres a misconception the WD-40 contains kerosene or something which it doesn't. I haven't remembered to pick up a can of Honda chain lube lately so I've been using WD-40 almost all summer.

I never ever ever put water on my bike, Yes I have riden in the rain(and it is one of my favorite times to ride) but when washing, I remove all body work/tank and wash seperately by hand, then wipe down the rest of the bike by hand. My buddies say I am wasting my time, but my bikes have always blown theres away in cleanliness and while there's were newer, mine looked mint
