Successfully replaced the steering column in my 95 Civic after a theft. The only problem is that I didn't have the wheel straight when I took it off and now it's a little crooked. What's the proper way to fix this problem?

 

Align the front wheels perfectly straight. Pull the steering wheel off and reposition it so it now is properly oriented.

 

Sounds like a plan. I've tried this 3 times already and I get closer each time. Any tips for nailing it first try?

 

I would off set it just a bit and keep trying till its right

 

Not really. It can be somewhat of a trial and error process. Maybe others have a reliable trick. It may help to drive straight on a flat surface for 20 feet or so and then stop to position the wheels perfectly forward.

 

^what he said.. and after it's straightened out... I marked the top (center) teeth with a pencil or pen so you know which position to insert the steering wheel
