i think i basically tried this except what i did is foudn out i had a vacuum leak

so what we did was we sealed off those three funkny holes on the fast IAC valve
you know that circle, oval and rectangular holes? with rubber, so no coolant gets thru which made my motor stop idling so wickedly high and crazy like

I tried it with my sohc vtec. Did not make a noticeable difference and caused an erratic idle when the car was cold. Not worth it in my opinion. If you're looking for every little bit of power at the track, go for it. For the street, don't bother

I did it, no biggie. The temp of the intake manifold is a little cooler but on the dyno we noticed no difference so....... and I tried it while making 300+whp and the temp outside was damn hott and humid.

I did it on my JRSC hybrid and it idles just fine. I have no real observations on wheather or not it did anything except make the plumbing a litte easier.

so you bypassed the coolant to your intake manifold and it became cooler? sounds...interesting. in the domestic world, we call this "heat soaking" and with an LS1 engine (or any other fuel injected 350, really) it adds serious horsepower. this is the first i've heard of anyone doing it to an import, but it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't make any noticable difference. try an exhaust dump like some other guy in this forum if you want cheap power

so what your saying is plug off all the hoses coming from IAC Valve on back of the intake manifold and the other downward curved hose coming off the intake manifold?

This only works if you live somewhere warm. To keep the butterfly valve from
freezing in cold climates, Honda engineers decided to run coolant through it.
Bypassing this plumbing will reduce your intake air temperatures and increase air
density, but if you live in a cold climate, you're asking for trouble. Frozen
throttles aren't pretty!

I tried it, no difference on the dyno. I even installed a ball valve to aloow different amounts of coolant flow from full flow to nothing.

HP readings never changed.

Only thing that changed was the idle quailty. I'm still running it the wat Honda designed it. Running quite well I might add.

this is NOT a 85+ TPI, LT1, or LSI motor.
Yes the bypass mod works GREAT on the engnes I just listed.

I also play with a 86 TA 5.0L TPI peanut cam F Body.

When my cold idle valve on my 95 GSR throttle body went bad, I figured this out on my own. The car idles funny after heat soaking for a while, but it still runs. Looking to get a ITR throttle body later.
