ok i have a b20 vtec in a eg bubble. i ran it with a gsr non lsd trans and blew it after a year or so .. i have someone that wants to sell me for $600 a b16 with a type R final drive and LSD. I dont wanna make a bad decision and downgrade my setup.. what do you guys think?

 

it will accelerate quicker for sure. the LSD is a plus too...but you will be shifting sooner and revving higher on the highway....

600 bones sounds decent....as long as its not messed up....kinda hard to check that until it's installed in the car or if you pull it apart to check.

i would probably grab it if i was in your shoes.

 

the b16 trans is a great upgrade for a all motor car.

if you can get some feeler gauges pop the case(if you know how) and check the clearence of the synchro to gear width. if its anything over .040 then its a deal. otherwise its gonna be a gamble. good luck

 

2nd question what does the final drive do? im sure the type r is special but how?

 

its the gearing which what makes it so different. this is why people who run all motor usually run lower/shorter gears because it helps them pick up speed alot faster and easier. us turbo guys like long **** because we top out better
