Strange b18a swap, is this right?
Hi, so I bough a clean 91 dx hatch with a not finished b18a swap from a 91 integra he had laying around. The guy made a custom passager side mount which looks good, used the stock driverside mount, either used the Da or stock rear tranny mount and welded a rod from the crossmember to the tranny/engine for the front mount. I guess its not the best for the axles or the tranny since the engine is solid but oh well. The thing is, the engine sits almost half an inch crooked, looking at the engine from the front the left side is a bit closer to the radiator than the right, like I said about 1/2 an inch. How bad is this?
Then, he said he used the stock shift linkage, that he didnt need to cut them. I thought b series swaps you had to shorten the shift linkage? The gears go in just fine but the shifter is very loose, probably very worn bushings since when it's in gear I can move the shifter from left to right about 6 inches but that can easily be taken care of with urethane bushing kits that can be had for about 20$, but am I missing something here with the stock shift linkage?
He also told me he didn't hammer the area where the alternator sits to make room. I thought you had to do this for b-series swaps. the pulley is close but it is not touching, probably because the engine sits crooked I guess?
He ****ed up the wiring as well so I am in the process of putting my engine/ecu harness from my obd1 converted 91 sedan with a d16z6, I'm guessing this will work but can I use my d16z6 distributor? I think it is a d16y8 dizzy with z6 internals but I'm not sure.
Sorry for the many questions, I just hope I'm not screwed and will not start braking axles every week because of a half *** swap, I need this car to run next week!
thanks!

biggest problems i see with the engine sitting crooked is that you will burn through axles quicker with them being at an awkward angle. also, the exhaust piping will be at the same angle and would have to be corrected from the engine sitting crooked. I would think you are right in reasoning that the fender well isn't hammered in because of the angle of the motor.
shift linkage, i don't know what to tell you cause I've never seen one used that wasn't modified. you can use your wiring harness but you might have to lengthen a couple of wires here and there. you can not use the z6 distributor though. you need to get a distributor and ecu from an obd1 integra.
in the end, me personally I would just buy new mounts and shift linkage. i mean would you really like going somewhere and pop your hood to show off your car and then have people looking at your swap saying "WTF did this guy do?". And even if you explained the previous owner did it, they will still be wondering why you're running around with a half *** thrown together swap when all the parts to fix it are readily available off the internet and you can probably get everything for pretty cheap if you look for good deals.

Thanks for the quick response. I understand what you say. This car is just temporary until october before it starts snowing since I broke my crossmember on the sedan at a track day. I have another 89 EF project that I am taking my time to do since 2005 but it isnt near finished. So I dont feel like cutting, grinding, rewelding the mounts, pull out the engine to hammer the frame rail etc.. since I am not equipped to do so and I need the car to run as soon as possible, but it does suck to have a half *** swap and it is not my type of work either. I'm pretty torn..
I checked under the car to see how crooked the header was and you can't even notice the angle. I just pulled out the old wiring so now I am about to put the axled back on, we'll see how this goes!!
Ok, so I found out I need a Da half shaft, but I don't know I have one on the motor now. Will a d-series automatic half shaft fit on the B-series? that will clarify it since I can't seem to push the axle in the half shaft all the way, there is like 1-1/2'' left. Damn.
edit: okay so I was trying to put the passenger side axle in the half shaft, noobism at its best...
