want to put AWD need advice
i want to put an all wheel drive kit into my honda civic 1991 hatch, any advice on were i should start looking or what i should start looking for, i know some of the later 80 civics had AWD components on them and was wondering if i will be able to switch everything over, and what components i need to make this work, thanks in advance. thanks!

RT-4WD is not the same as AWD, and lacks the center differential needed to be AWD. It is FWD, until the front axle slips compared to the rear, then a portion of the power is sent to the rear through the viscous coupling.
If you want to run RT-4WD, and want to stick with a D series, the RT-4WD Civic "Wagovan" is where you'll want to source parts. If you want a B or K swap, the CRV or Element is where you source parts. Either way, you'll either need to import JDM trailing arms or cut and weld together a set of custom ones.
None of the Civic ever had AWD.

Everyone in this thread needs to search.
Power is sent to ALL wheels. There is a viscous coupler separating the front and rear wheels which is not indifferent to an LSD.
There is no AWD kit. Nothing will bolt up, no it's not worth the swap, just buy a wagon (which already has 4wd)
The CRV RT4wd system is different to the late 80's civics, and is useless in comparison.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's not worth it.
To the OP --- An AWD has been done, it can be worth it, but it will take money, alot of work and alot of fabrication. And it's not a FULL ON AWD, I believe depending the AWD system you use it's an 80/20 split on power (80 up front, 20 to the back).
My team member executed the entire AWD conversion using the CRV's components, and got it all done for less then $1800
Don't recall the entirety of his build components but A B20/Vtec Turbo Hatch, AWD MOVES...very ****ing well.
I will say this, the set up CANNOT take alot of power, hence he had to spend on custom parts to strengthen the overall build, the Normal CRV components can't take more then 250hp of output.
I think 'worth' is debatable, but those power split figures aren't - they're just wrong.
