Any CEL's? Any issues with driveability, stalling or sputtering? When does it do it? All the time? during VTEC?

Help us help you, i highly doubt any of us are driving behind you right now looking at your exhaust waiting for the smoke.

Please make thread titles that reflect the issue. I edited your title to mention the main subject, which is black smoke.

could be a broken piston ring, or broken piston

i was aware that a broken piston ring would burn oil indicating BLUE smoke, not BLACK...

like mentioned above.. black smoke indicates your car running too rich

is the motor stock? or does it have an aftermarket fpr or injectors? is the car using the oem ecu? you haven't given enough information to help us help you. you should list the motor mods, so that we can rule things out

If you are puffing white smoke, then your coolant will be low. But adding more wont fix the problem.

you have a cooling system malfunction. ( probably Head gasket )

valve seals that leak cause oil being burned in the exhuast and makes blue smoke, not black.

black smoke is unburnt fuel indicating something causing a rich air/fuel mixture.......probably an o2 sensor if your car is pretty much stock

this has nothing to do with burning oil, if oil was being burnt the smoke would be blue. if coolant is being burnt the smoke will be white

please list mods if your car has them

I checked again, smoke is black according to my fiancee. I'm like color blind LOL.

Anyways,
my mods... DC CARB legal header. Also for some odd reason the cat back is welded to the cat.

Any CEL's....possibly a stuck injector or something wrong with your fuel pressure regulator...or an o2 sensor problem

my o2 sensor doesn't seem right.

The wire is super long. It's wrapped around other wires in the harness so it wouldn't hang.

well, when they installed the b16 they probably had to lengthen the wires to reach the o2 sensor bung near the bottom. Did you get an o2 cel?

I'm not the OP. Mine is a stock GSR original motor.
Had a coolant temp sensor CEL but fixed it and cleared it.

i think a lot of GSR's are just abused. That must be why a lot of people think it's a VTEC thing. My brother also said it was a VTEC thing. He been through 3 GSR's lol
