Default woohoo, got my motor :)

Just got an h23a complete for 400 bucks canadian. It needs new ring and stuff, but I wanna boost it so i'm gonna get low compression pistons and sleeve the block. Any recommendations for the pistons?

Arias, JE, whatever. 8.5:1 ratio. Overbore that bitch when you sleeve it too. Have Golden Eagle do the boring and sleeving, and they'll offer you a package deal on the pistons and rods, too.

That's cool, just try to avoid Darton sleeves, I've heard bad things about them 'settling' into the block after short term use.... requiring more work and money to fix.

edit: I take that back, it's probably more of a mechanic thing than the sleeves themselves...

I went wiseco 8.8:1 and crower rods. Its the "http://www.raceeng.com/" design if it matters (the groove between the top and second ring).

Still waiting on the block to be sleeved.

h23a long blocks are a steal. I paid $250 plus $110 for shipping from Maine to Indiana. Shipping date is this Saturday. It also needs new rings, but it looks like you and I have the same plans. BOOOOOST.

This guy was selling his on ebay. Nobody was bidding, so I asked him if I could buy it privatly instead of ebay. So, he agreed. By the time he closed the auction, people had bid it up to well over $600. I got really lucky.

when a H23 goes bad (usually around 150-200k mi) it will spin a rod bearing...i'm not sure why, but thats what goes wrong with it...then people get a H22 and sell their bad H23

Well, in my case some kid came in with his lude and a $10,000 line of credit and said: "engine is messed, make it go faster." So out came the H23 and in went the JDM H22. I talked to my mechanic yesterday and asked what was going on with the H23. He said the kid said he could have it. So he told me $400, SOLD! motor, tranny ecu and harness.

I have 9.5 endyns going in to my h22a, 8.5 is pretty low if you have at least a half way decent tuner they should be able to get 9.5 work fine.
