Default single stage motion sensor?

I hooked one of those compustar alarms I bought from Desmon in my 87 blazer finally. The damn shock sensor is a piece of crap. Can't seem to get it set so it doesn't go off when a car goes down the street with a loud exhaust.

I just want to get a decent single stage motion sensor for the inside of the truck. I haven't bought any of this stuff in a very long time and dont even know whats available anymore.
What's a decent single stage motion senor these days? Do they even make a single stage anymore or do I just got to buy a dual stage?

Move the sensor to a diff. spot, then when adjusting the sensor, [once you get it close] very small increments will make a big diff.

One of the few things I did not like about the Compustar alarms was the impact sensor placement and adjustment, but eventually found that mounting it to the dash sub-frame and making very small adjustments, [I mean very very small] up or down would work very well, [once you got the right spot].

Any dual stage shock sensor using 4 wires, [power, ground, first stage and second stage] can be used as a single stage by just not connecting one of the stage leads, or just cut one of the stage leads of the Compustars impact sensor, yellow is first stage and white is second stage.

Just reread the post, your looking for a motion sensor, [proximity sensor], all the above still applies, as long as prox sensor has 4 leads and you do not connect first stage.94

Ya I know a dual stage can be used as a single stage. The question is do they even make a single stage any more? What is a good proximity sensor to get that doesn't false all the time?

I gave up on that crap shock sensor. As far a tiny adjustments this blazer is regularly taken off road. Any potential adjustment would just get wacked out once I went wheeling. I just dialed it down to a very low setting. I have the thing zip tied to the steering column. A proximity sensor will work for what I want I just dont know what is good and what isn't anymore. Suggestion?

Just about any prox except the DEI one, here is a single zone one... http://cgi.ebay.ca/car-alarm-microwa...item3a5cdc4231 it's only $20 so I am not sure how good it is.

The Audiovox AS-12 single stage microwave sensor works well, I have used them before, also if you can find a Clifford 905065, [Proximity Sensor III], it is a single stage sensor that works.
The Omega AU-94T is a duel zone, but it works very well. 94

Being cheap isn't what I really care about. Do you know how well any of these work? I'm sure you have seen a K5 blazer the inside is fairly large. The rear windows are easy to pop open which is why I want the motion sensor. I want something that doesn't false a lot.

I don't have anything of significant value in there. A set of JL audio 8w6's and a semi-good amp. But I have more money into that stupid truck than its worth, new engine, trans, electric lockers, 1 ton axles, winch...ect. From the outside it doesn't look like much. I just want to prevent the average idiot criminal that would be looking at that kind of truck anway.

Then use either the AudiovoxAS-12 or the Omega AU-94T, just use the inner zone on the Omaga if you do not want an outside zone.

For best results out of any of them mount them 1/8"-1/4" off a metal surface, [cars floor pan works very well] using Velcro or double sided foam pad, ground the sensor to the metal surface you are mounting it to, no metal of any kind above sensor for at least 18"-24".

I have also mounted them, facing down, under the head liner, again, mount the sensor 1/8" -1/4" of the roof skin, and ground to one of the cross braces, I do mine just behind the dome light, [remove dome light for access]. 94

Thanks I'll check those out. Ya I know about grounded metal surfaces I use to use aluminum foil to wrap relays in because the motion sensors would "sense" a clicking relay. I don't remeber why I had a clikcing relay though oh well so many years ago.

Sure...don't get me wrong I don't blame you in any way for that shock sensor. That's what comes with the unit it's in no way your fault.

Ya the problem is I get these great ideas in my head, but my ideas occur faster then my ability to implement them. Life happens and things lose priority.

I'm in luck was digging through an old junk box and found a ton of alarm stuff.

Some of it I should probably post up for sale I'll never use it. Complete 9000IQ including every option imaginable, extra windows modules, extra car start modules, extra back up battery modules,siren...ect LOL

I found a clifford 2 stage digital proximity sensor. I seem to remember these being fairly good. I think I'll stick this sensor in my truck.
