the only major difference between a clone R shell and real R shell of the same condition is the suspension...shouldn't cost that much to upgrade.

No sir, there are a bunch of other arguably more important things (a couple quick ones that come to my mind which are rarely "closned" are significatly stiffer rear subframe and thicker wheel arches). ITR also gets the tie-bar between the control arms, which just can't be bolted up to a non-R w/o modification/replacement.
