d16a6 no spark
hey i just pulled my d15b6 motor trans and harness out of my 1990 crx hf and put in a 1991 d16a6 motor trans and harness. It was missing a distributor so i put my d15 one in also have the stock ecu in it. however it turns over but i am not getting any spark or fuel. Is it cuz of my ecu? I also changed the main relay cuz i was told it might be bad. Any ideas will help i'm just lost and not sure where to go from here.
you need to use the hf harness. the si harness will plug in fine, but some wire locations will be on different pins. try your hf harness, you might have a small 2-wire plug unplugged that goes next to the iacv. you should be ok with that unplugged.

okay i just put in a new relay and fuses are good. heres one more question for ya. i dont have a check light on however my ecu has a red led on its board that flashes once then goes out and then flashes five times fast all while the key is turned on. That normal?
that's weird. code 5 is for MAP sensor, but you say your check engine light isn't on when the ecu is throwing the code. does your check engine light come on when you first flip the switch to the "on" position?
i just put my stock hf ecu back into it and it flashed a 15 this time. Man eletrical is may week point for sure. so how do i fix a defective ignition output signal?
alright i'll give that a try. i tried finding manuel trans fluid today and that was a no go is it true that i can just run 30 weight motor oil in it instead?

you are never going to get it started with the Si engine harness mated to the HF chassis harness, unless you make some wiring changes and re-pin your connectors - the Si engine harness has the igniter wire (code 15) in the passenger side firewall connector and the HF chassis harness has the igniter wire (code 15) in the driver's side firewall connector - in addition to this major problem, all of the wires (except for one) in the driver's side connector are in different locations on the Si and HF harnesses - the easiest solution is to use the HF engine harness
According to this you should be able to swap the pm8(hf) for the pm6(si) without any issues, and use all the original hf harness'. http://hondaswap.com/reference-mater...pinouts-28667/
As far as the motor oil for trans. fluid. Everyone has there own opinion on whats right/wrong. Twenty years ago honda used motor oil right from the factory, but have since changed their spec. to their own trans fluid. I use honda mtf, but in a pinch i would not hesitate to use motor oil. The real dif is that the mtf has additives to prevent premature wear, and it should shift smoother. I would suggest if you have the time stop by honda buy some mtf, its expensive($8-$10 a qt. i believe) but so is replacing/rebuilding a trans.

cool thanks for the info. I think ive gathered enough info to get this figured out. And being that i dont have it running yet i'm not strapped on time i'll grab mtf fluid from honda
