HELP: starting problems / and any advice for an 88 civic dx
first off, i would like to say i spent some time searching... i found some information, but not quite anything to my specific problem...
i just recently picked up an 88 civic dx hb... in the mornings or when i let the car sit for hours it is difficult for me to start the car... when i turn the key, i hear a winding but the engine doesn't start cranking... it takes me like 30 or so seconds of turning the key and pumping the gas for me to get it to start... then it fires! what could my problem be? starter maybe? if so, how to replace?
this is my 'daily driver' and i would like any advice on what i can do on a small budget. i know i can swap the motor out and the usual i/h/e, but what other 'tricks' are out there? such as ecu, etc.
lastly, if i can obtain a 91 civic si intake manifold, can i swap it on to my d15?
thanks in advance!

starter is an easy fix. all it is two bolts one short one long. make sure you disconnect the neg terminal on the battery first then the starter terminals take off the old one then slap the new one on. if its cranking really slowly then it is the starter if not it might be something in the distributor or your ignition/fuel system or even the main relay...
as for the Si intake manifold yes it will fit and work but make sure you drain the rad first to prevent coolant from flowing into the #4 chamber and cause you many headaches...and also get a new intake manifold gasket from honda rest assured

So the car doesn't turn over? Check the connections on the starter first and make sure everything is good.
