Icon6 d16y8 in a 88 crx hf?

Hi. I'm new to the forum and have a couple of questions I'm hoping you pros could help me out with. I'm looking to swap out my d15b6 for a d16y8. I already have the motor, axles, ecu, trans to do the swap. I'm curious if I need diff. motor mounts and do I need a jumper harness? Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Thx. Dan.

The newer transmission has a hydraulicly actuated clutch. Unless you plan on doing a conversion, you will be limited to using an 88-91 cable transmission (your existing transmission will work just fine but you'll be stuck with the super long/tall gearing). A jumper harness for the ECU will be the easiest way to use the correct ECU.

seriously? wow. o/p, take the stock motor mount and bracket off of your d15 and bolt it onto the y8, since you SHOULD be changing the timing belt and water pump before the swap (unless you know it was recently done, which then you can just nvm that)

secondly, to do it right, you'll need to buy an obd0-obd1 jumper harness and either a p28 ecu OR a chipped ecu with y8 maps n what not.

thirdly, if you're up to the task, you can swap the guts and fd from the y8 transmission to the b6, you just have to use the stock b6 diff but swap the ring gear onto it. if that's too much, pick up a dx or si transmission and call it a day.

fourth, you're going to have the use the stock crx hf axles unless the steering knuckles were swapped over to dx/ex/si or DA knuckles, as the axle hole in the hub is smaller on the hf/std model of crx/civic. the transmission ends are the same, but the steering knuckles are different.
