1991 Accord Motor into a 1992 Accord Problem
I'm just double checking to see if I missed something. I pulled a F22A out of a 1991 Accord and installed it in a 1992 Accord, which also had a F22A in it. The distributors are different and the 1992 has an external coil. I pulled the wiring harness, distributor, and the coil off of the 1992 motor and installed on the 91 motor. Everything looks like it's supposed to and I installed the 91 motor into the 92 car. I did change the timing belt and balancer belt while it was out. I used the 92 (original) ecu because i switched the wiring harness. Everything hooked up fine.
The car starts right up and idles fine. When I accelerate the motor it misses terrible like it's out of time or misfiring. I double checked the timing/balancer belts/pulleys and the distributor had been marked when it was pulled. There aren't any codes being displayed.
Looking at the two motors, the only difference I see is the ditributor, coil, and the wiring harness. I thought a simple switch would be sufficient. Am I missing something else that changed from 91 to 92?
One more thing...prior to installing the motor, I had never heard it run so perhaps it did this prior to installation. Compression checks are about 180 psi for all four.
I'm just looking to see if I over looked something obvious.
Thanks.

i dont know for sure, but here is a pinout chart for the 92-95 accord/integra, so i would assume that the pre-92 harness is different... since is starts w/ the 92 models.
besides that though, there are some sensors inside the distributor cap that are for the ignition. you might look into those.

Thanks. Yes the harness for the 91 was different, but as far as I could tell the change was for the external coil and different distributor. To me it simply looked like Honda upgraded the distributor on the 92 and I "thought" by changing it out along with the wire harness I would take care of it. I've been messing with it for a week now and it's still laughing at me.
I downloaded the Honda Service Manual from the link and when I tried to open it, it was password protected.

There us nothing wrong with the distr. They are the same. Only difference is one is external coil and the other is internal. I would suggest doing your basic checks. Adjust valves, spark plugs, cap, rotor (oem parts), and do compression checks.
