Default 94 accord shifting problems

hello HT
my buddie has a 94 lx accord 4 banger.

when the car is cold it shifts fine, but when its warm... the 3-4 shift takes forever and then it bangs into gear. no check eng lights,

what cuold cause this long and then rough shift from 3-4gear?

The fluid is likely losing viscosity when it gets hot.

Change out the fluid 2 times using Honda Z1 ATF. Drive it 10-15 minutes in-between each change. Notice the amount of junk on the magnetic plug, if it has one.

My 92 takes 2.5Q each drain and refill, but check your manual for your 94.

Oh, if that works, change it again 2 more times over the next 2 weeks. That will get you 90+ percent of new ATF.
