Default 791xv in civic starter kill problem.

I got the right starter wire, because remote start works.

purple - starter side
green - key side

I cut the starter kill wire, and it won't start using the key.

What's wrong??

Are you using the version that has the relays pack or the version that has the relay box? Also make and model of the car.

I'm not sure, 791xv 1995 civic cx.

It's the one with the main brain? and then the brain is connected to the heavy gauge wires relay?

If you spliced the purple and green wire into the starting circuit. That is your starter kill.

I did that, and remote start works fine, but when I leave the starter wire cut, purple to starter side, green to key side, it will not start with the key.

humm. I would check the relay on the unit. also make sure that the purple wire is going to the fuse block side. Its easy to make this mistake. Because when the remote start is not being used. 87a and 30 rest toghter completing the starting circuit. This way you can use the key to start the car. Also make sure the orange wire on the ribbon harness is not being pinched to ground or this will turn the relay on to starter kill mode.

Either the relay is bad or starter cut or anti grind is engauged, as mentioned, make sure orange lead, [H1 harness] is not grounded, is it being used for anything? 94

it wouldn't have anything to do with anti-grind. try unplugging the ribbon cable to the relay box, and try starting it. if that works then there is something wrong with either ribbon cable or brain. also...make sure the orange wire off of the 10pin main harness is not connected to anything.

Why could it not be anti-grind, anti-grind is a feature that prevents starter engagement ,[with key] if engine already running off the remote start, if there was a problem with the anti-grind feature, [engaged at all times] it would prevent engine starting with key.

Don't discount a possible problem untill it has been confirmed it is not the problem. 94

because the antigrind software in the brain is only engaged with ignition output on. so unless he has a bad brain, it wouldn't be anything to do with antigrind. so unless the alarm thinks the remote start is engaged at all times, i would rule this out.

The anti grind works in conjuction with the tach wire and on the 791 it does not work of 12 volts sensing. If it was just the ignition wire it would not work because you need the ignition wire to support 12 volt constant while cranking the car or the car will not start.

It could be a couple of things. We will start at everyone and check it of the list. Not throw one out.

what do you mean you cut the starter kill wire and it won't start with the key?? if it's the 791 with the relay pack, and it won't start with the ribbon cable unplugged from the relay pack, i'd say you need to replace the relay pack. if it's the relays tied together, you might just have to replace the starter kill relay

it's been 5 days, i wonder if he figured it out
