title is: Long ago. Still a thrill? Sorry, my iPhone edited the word.
Hey there. I haven't been here for several Years since my last R left my driveway.
Now I have to make a decision. Some New Car like the Focus RS Street only or getting back to the game driving and Weekend racing an old ITR, pumping in all that money, all that sorrow, but finally beeing happy. Maybe.
Are there some of the old mates still here in the board ?
Tell me, does it still give you a blast ? Is it worth it.

ok, almost 100 clicks, no opinion..
Seems like the R-diehards have left the stage or have nothing to say. Maybe they chose better cars in the last five years. I expected that I think

oh you're in germany. if you have easy access to the focus rs grab one, those are little rockets. it's funny you mention the itr for autocross which it's good at but only see the 305hp focus as a street car? the RS is probably the fastest FWD ever created

Yep, the RS is a good car, just like the 2008 WRX-Sti andf the Lancer Exo X.
I can get one of these cars by business leasing but that means for street application only.
A DCtwo I could pay myself what means I can modify it and take it to the track finally.
But since I was an active member of the scene and this board, some years passed by and I have no clue if it`s worth to get back there. Some years ago I could buy an ITR with less than 50k on the clock. But now it`s getting harder and harder to find a good one with 100k.
It`s even more hard to get the permission, means street legality for parts.
My plan is to find a stock ITR and mod it like this:
- 2,5`` header, racecat, exhaust
- Double springs, fully adjustable dampers
- Dished wheel (means removing the airbag)
- Raceshell and Harness
Later then:
- Brake upgrade
- Intake
- Better throttle body
I need an advice, looking for people who never stopped racing and maintaining their DC2 all through the last years... Are you still satisfied or do you feel the need for more modern cars ?

A lot of us still drive DC2s. I've had more modern (and faster) cars and have sold them all but have two DC2s, one ITR in the garage and a GS-R in the driveway. I doubt I'll ever sell either, they'll likely rust away first.
It's hard to find them without low miles, yes, but my ITR has 119k now (picked it up in January 2010 with 108k) and my GS-R has 145k or so (had it since it was new). Neither has given me any real problems, and maintenance is still less than a car payment on a Cayman S, used 911 S, etc.. and honestly.. I'm not sure I'd rather have them vs the ITR based on driving experience. I might consider one of those P cars as a DD though.
Obviously we don't get the Focus RS here, so I can't comment on it from a driver's perspective.
Aftermarket headunit fixes my needs for modern luxuries (bluetooth and ipod connectivity are about all I wanted). Seat heaters would be nice for long drives and the few weeks of cold we get here, but, not a big deal.

Well, so I`ll make a decision maybe next week or so. Depends on the DC2R`s which are for sale these days.
Where is Anton ? Is he still an active member ?

you can get the 98+ header from japan that's 2.5" stock
shocks, you should have koni easily available. either their coilovers or import ground controls for the from the states. 500/450 is a pretty balanced trackable rate that won't totally kill you on the streets.
not a lot of power to be had on an otherwise stock itr in the throttle body, the intake...the edelbrock performer x is better but only by a couple hp. that means more importing from the states. at stock power levels the oem brakes are fine with better pads. axxis ultimates would be a good street / track pad. if you start doing high speed track events you'll want something like the hawk HT-10

Oh, thanks dude.
Since we are the German Toda outpost, I'd go with some Toda Parts, like Header.
Parts like Exhaust, throttlebody and Aluminium-shocks we Build
on our own.
I exactly know which parts I'd pick

Well...I could never sell my R, but that doesn't mean that you can't find another fun second car that will do what the R can't. Why not have both?
