Default Remote start viper 5901

I hooked it up, the neutral switch to a ground, right?

then I try to start it and I get 7 flashes, which is Manual transmission mode is enabled and not initialized. What does this mean??? Any help would be great, in a 1998 civic ex.

got it past the 7 flashes, the fuel pump primes but no power goes to the starter wire, any input? Wired it to acc, starter both sides, 12 volts, and ignition 1.

auto or manual car?? reason i ask is you have to bypass the clutch on a manual car. if it's an auto it might be a starter output wiring issue.

if you leave the remstart in manual mode then you need to hook the neutral safety wire to the e-brake, you could also put it in automatic mode, then ground the neutral safety wire. in order to bypass the clutch you need to first test the clutch wire to determine what clutch type you have. if you're clutch wire rests at ground, then you can connect the status wire (blue with white stripe) to the clutch wire, and you done. if it doesnt rest at ground, then you'll need a relay to connect both wires in the clutch harness

if you already know all this, and have done it, you might wanna check the actual neutral safety switch and make sure it's on. i know this might sound obvious, but we repair alot of remstarts, and the only problem was that the switch was off

have you programed tach? tach needs to be learned to start the car... or you can turn engine checking off.. and it will crank for a specific time 0.6 is factory setting.. i recommend using the tach... its the purple/white long wire( connects to blue wire on dizzy)

i install about 5 of these alarms a week and if you have any questions just ask..

also if you dont want to bypass the clutch you can go right to the starter and diode isolate the thick purple wire(from alarm) to the little starter wire.

assuming it's a manual transmission, they are correct when saying that you need to bypass the clutch with the status wire, reprogram the alarm to auto trans mode, and you don't have to turn engine checking off, you can leave it programmed for virtual tach which will work just as well; however, tach is EASY to find in these cars, it's in the diagnostic plug under the hood. if you leave it in manual trans mode you need to move the neutral safety to e-break and learn the shutdown procedure as outlined in the manuals.
