Hi there. I've searched but still would like some current advice as well.

Here's the story. I found a 1992 Prelude with 105K miles on it for my brother. Needed a head gasket and trans so we thought it would be a great car after we had the work done!

Turns out, it needed main rod bearings too. Oh, and a valve job.............

Long story short, the car ran great until the mains got put in. Also did plugs, wires and all other ignition components. Now, it cranks but will not fire.

We thought it was the main relay, because at one point when I was messing with it, she wanted to fire. We replaced it but still nothing....

I'm not smelling any raw gas but it still has all the stock exhaust, so I'm not sure if I would even smell it.

I can tear apart my Taurus SHO but this Honda is driving me crazy!! I feel really bad too because I'm the one who found it.

This car would be amazing if we can just get her straight

Have you checked your timing? Does the Fuel pump prime when you turn the key to the on position?

 

Timing's good and I could swear I hear the fuel pump. Not very loud though and only if i stick my ear against the rear fender.

Also, the reason we did all the ignition is because after we got it back from getting the mains done, it was running like crap.

Well make sure your getting fuel at the rail/injectors, and make sure your ignition, and cam/crank timing are all correct. You said that you couldnt smell gas, which you should if its cranking but not firing. You should be able to hear the pump prime from inside the car.

 

Turn the key on II and back off a few times, then unbolt the fuel bolt that go's to your fuel rail a tad and you should have fuel squirting every were. Or take out your spark plug wires and see if they are wet after you try to start it for a little bit. and check your spark.

 

Ok, got spark.

It's got to be fuel. I'm starting to think the fuel pump was going and that's why it was running rough.


Oh, another thing. The main relay seems to be freaking out. It's like click-click-click------click-----click-click
