quick question
last saturday i installed my kidd racing header and changed my oil, plugs, filter etc. and since then it has developed a slight ticking noise. i checked all the bolts on the header and they are as tight as they will ever get. so i thought maybe i needed a little more oil but that turned out ok as well. i cant locate the exact source of the noise because sometimes it sounds like its coming from the back of the head or up by the TB.
anybody have any sugestions as what could be causing this?? its pretty annoying and can sometimes be pretty loud. im just really ocd and cant stand noises and stuff that shouldnt be making noises.
i switched to RP 5w30 and ngk iridiums with a fram filter if that helps. my brother said that it could be that the walls of the header may be a little then so i might just be hearing noises from the engine coming from the header. if that makes any sense. so do you think exhaust wrap may help??
and if you are going to take the time to read this, just respond. there is no need to ignore it. this is a forum, people come here for help. i kno somebody may have some sort of advice, i dont care how irrelevant it may be, just let me kno. ANY help will be appreaciated
Thanks!

Header is probably rubbing against the swaybar. Do you have aftermarket motor mounts/inserts? If not you might want to buy them.
What about the spark plugs...I'm assuming they're OEM comparable (and shouldn't need to be gapped because they're iridium).
Lastly, were you using conventional oil before switching to Syn? Could be something related to the valve rockers/lifters getting used to the new oil. Synthetic has a lower viscosity than conventional oil.
Mileage? When was your last valve lash adjustment?

checked the header and it has about two inches between the sway bar. and negative on the mounts and inserts, i might look into those
spark plugs are oem, switched from bosch to ngks
not sure what kind of oil was in there. just bought the car with 103xxx miles a month and a half ago. so i just switched to the RP synthetic. hopefully its just getting used to the sythetic because the noise has lessened a little bit.
and im going to have them adjusted next week. so ill let you kno if that helps
thanks for the help! like i said, it doesnt affect driveability, its just rather annoying. lol. hopefully it goes away for good
on a side note, does anybody kno where i can get some oem body parts??? like fenders and bumpers? whoever had it before had some fugly body kit and i want it off asap
mine used to make similar sounds only when it got wet from pubble of water or something..., I also heard a few others with similar issue. I think the larger diameter of the header/midpipe with lack of room underneath also with motor vibration from the torque and such caused it to rattle and make sounds like that only when it was wet... The problem went away when stiffer motor mount was installed. FYI, my sound was more of slight ticking and got louder tapping sound when really wet. GL!
without engine mounts or inserts my exhaust manifold gaskets(header gasket) were getting destroyed.. fast.. my stock mounts were shot at 50k miles. another thing, it could be the fuel injectors, somtimes they can get loud as well.
but yeah get the valve adjustment done.. then look into inserts or mounts before you destroy the gasket or the header itself.
