Building a roll cage. Which bender and why?
there is probably more bending going on over at pirate 4x4. i'd check out the forum there, you'll more than likely get a few different opinions.
i got my bender from www.tmrcustoms.com up here in canada land, but i'm sure he could sell you one down there too since they can be drop shipped.
i prefer a vertical style bender myself. also, software like bendtech is a must!

I just bought a Bailiegh RDB-050 but its a little over kill for just roll cages.. I'd recommend the JMR bender.. Its fairly priced but its one of the best manuel benders money can buy.. If you wanna be cheap you can get the jd2, its the best bang for your buck bender.. Buying the bender is your first expense.. You'll also need to buy the proper die set which is a few hundred more..
I have a pro-Tools HMP-200 and its portability and versatility beat out the jd3 and jd4 that I have had in the past.
only thing better production wise of the bigger units are their obvious speed when you set them up with a long travel ram and electric powered hydro. for random projects here and there the smaller vertical units win for me.

Whats your price range? At our shop we have a a Bailiegh Mandrel Bender with computer controls, you just type in some numbers and go. Its about $25,000 though. Maybe a little overkill.
This is what I use...

So, since having a JD2 Model 4 I'm pretty biased to JD2 products.
If you only ever plan on using it once. Just get a manual powered bender. If you plan on doing more with it. Look for something more capable.
I also recommend air/hydraulic vs. electric/hydraulic. I find air is more precise. But it is slower. Which I actually think is a plus. Less chances for over bending.

Thanks guys. It'll see more than one or few times use. I've narrowed it down to a air/hydralic vertical for space savings. Anyone have experience with http://www.probender.com/ ?
