Hand Brake - Accord 1999 CG8
Hello,
Another bothering problem that I have on my 1999 Accord CG8 is the hand brake.
It is very stiff, the lever goes up only few degress, worse than that, it has no effect on the slightest slope! Always have to park the car gear engaged to keep it from rolling!!!
On the manual I have it only tells you how to disconnect and inspect the cables for bent ot damage, not how to adjust the brake to be more effecient!
I have not tried anything yet, i wanted to have your ideas first. If anyone knows a link to a tech bulletin how to adjust it it will be appreciated.
thank you

Hi again,
For the parking brake there is only one adjustment to do: just one nut located under the rear end of the center console. Maybe you have rusty parking brake cables?
Adjustment procedure is to pull the parking brake lever one notch up and then turn the adjustment nut until the rear wheels slightly drag (rear end of car must be jacked up).
Parking brake should be fully locked with the lever pulled up between 6 and 9 notches.
Hope this helps,
Danny
