90 Accord EX manual transmission problems..
First off, I have a 90 Accord EX 5spd. Clutch is bad and also the throw out bearing cause in nuetral with the clutch out you can hear the throw out bearing spinning. Also when I am driving in first, second or even any other gear you can gear almost the same sound as in nuetral but alittle louder. So I think its either the tranny bearings are going out or its the throwout bearing. But when its making that sound in gear when I am accelerating or just crusing and i push in the clutch the sound is gone. So is it the transmission bearings going out or my throwout bearing? tranny shifts find but the clutch slips whenever I try and accerate hard.
My point is if it is my transmission bearing what other accord trannys are compatable with my engine? From what I heard its 90-97 accords. I found a 96 tranny for a good price but its from a VTEC accord and i don't want to be crusing on the highway at a high rpm. Kind of like putting a GSR tranny on a LS motor. Please help solve this for me. Thank you.

Put oil in the transmission you have, should quiet it down a bit, granted it's not already close to dying or has bad bearings. A throwout bearing will make the most noise with the clutch pressed IN. The sounds your hearing are definitely gear noise/bearing related. (Clutch Pedal Out= Spinning of Transmission Main shaft and no throwout bearing to clutch sping contact)
(Clutch Pedal In= No spinning of Transmission but spinning of throwout bearing)
(Clutch Pedal In= No spinning of Transmission but spinning of throwout bearing)
while true when the car isnt in gear if the clutch isnt pressed in you will hear noise from the throw out bearing if it is going bad.......had this problem b4 and replacing the throwout bearing fixed it....now it may not be the only noise you hear tho
It could be one of the srpings from the clutch disk popped out, or it could even be a flywheel bolt that backed out.
Take the tranny off and see.
